Happy New Year Rotarians,
Those last 2 weeks sure flew by and just like that we are closing 2020. It would be wrong of me to complain about 2020 because it certainly had its bright spots. For me it was adding our fourth child, a 10 year anniversary with my bride, and a whole lot of family time. I like to focus on the bright side of things and this pandemic that has been the global focus of 2020 certainly has forced us to be resourceful and creative. I was able to connect with more family this holiday season than ever before, although it was through technology and not necessarily in person. That wouldn’t have happened in previous years. We have certainly been dealt some challenges in 2020 but our club has responded and adapted trying new things, and going new directions. The pandemic has not dampened our Rotary spirit of “Service Above Self.” Here’s to a bright and beautiful 2021!
This week’s club updates…
Evening event on Monday, January 11, 2021 - Moonlight Snowshoe and Hike. Start the New Year off right with some stress relief of fresh air and exercise with friends. Meet at Nepco Lake County Park at 5:30pm at the Snow Shoe trail head (upper parking lot). Bring your head lamps and flashlights to light our hike along the beautiful snowshoe trails, (no snowshoes required.) Please invite family and friends. 1410 Griffith Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494
Remember there is no Noon Meeting the second Monday of each month.
Please provide your ideas for programs for 2021 - Shelly Mondeik and the programming committee is asking
you to help direct your weekly programming topics. They have done a fantastic job of keeping our lineup full of interesting programs but want help from you to submit a speaker or topic. If you’re not able to make the connection, the committee can assist you in reaching out and solidifying the program speaker and details. Many hands make light work. Send your ideas to
mdironside@uwalumni.com or
Shelly.Mondeik@mstc.edu
The foundation Fundraiser “Dream Team” is holding its first meeting January 4, 2021 at 5:00pm - More members are still needed to help shape a fundraiser so we can continue to support our community as we want to in the future. Calling all fundraising dreamers! One clear message from our recent survey was that we need to supplement our internal fund drive with an additional fundraising effort. Any and all ideas are welcome, so if you have experience or interest in fundraising and event planning please join the meeting! E-mail
mdironside@uwalumni.com or
director@familyctr.org your ideas or interest in joining this meeting and we will get you the details. Can’t make this one, don’t worry, there will be more opportunities provide your input.
Welcome January Youth Rotars - Joining us for January from LHS we have Alexcis Rehberg, Alexis Heinen, and Azalea Clendenning. As always make them feel welcome, help introduce them to what Rotary is and does. We are community role models.
