Happy Friday Fellow Rotarians!

If you missed it last week there is breaking news in the presidential election... The nominating committee has identified our 2022-23 Noon Rotary of Wisconsin Rapids club president. We are excited to announce Tim Young from the Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre has answered the call to action to fill this roll. The board has approved this nomination and the club will formally elect Tim on Monday. Tim will currently fill the position of our President Elect Nominee and will be in line to take office on July 1, 2022.

Heads up... No, keep your eye on the ball!  Dean from the Sunrise Club reached out to me to share some details on their annual fundraise Mini-Ryder Cup.  They will still be holding it this year at Papa Bears Mini golf course in Rome WI.  This years funds raised will go toward the Wood County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin Rapids Police K9 units.  Sheriffs vs Police.  They will be limiting participants a little bit to preserve social distancing with 2, 2 person teams per hole. A $35.00 entry fee includes 18 holes, a great meal from Chat-R-Box and a K9 Facemask.  Gather at 5:00pm, golf at 6:30pm.  Lets support our fellow Rotarians and get a team or two out there.
If you have any questions please reach out to myself or Dean Veneman (Dean@thepromoagency.net).

Our areas of focus… When was the last time you reviewed Rotary’s area’s of focus.  There are six main areas of focus could you name them all?  Promoting peaceFighting DiseaseProviding Clean water, Sanitation, and HygieneSaving Mothers and ChildrenSupporting EducationGrowing Local Economies.  There is amazing “Action” going on around the world.  As a Rotarian you are a part of it.  This helps tell the story of Rotary.

Lots of polio updates... Noon Rotary made Chuck Gibbons pay! Chuck matched $1,100 in pledges bringing our clubs PolioPlus contribution to $2,200. Nice work everyone that contributed to our mini-PolioPlus drive. I would like to thank Chuck for his leadership and action on challenging the club. I would also like to thank John Steel, Jerry Feith, Richard Kenney, Susan Feith, Ahmad Mussalum, Jake Close, Phil Brown, Kent Anderson, Tammi Jepson, Sue Sippel, Warren Miller, Rob McGrath, Andy Barnett, Greg Nettesheim, Craig Broenen, Amy Gust, George Mead, and Mike O’leary. Look for your invoice for these pledges that was e-mailed out on 9/1/2020 via ClubRunner. If you didn’t receive it be sure to check your spam.

As we wrapped up our August pledge we were informed that Africa was declared wild poliovirus-free.  October 24, 2020 is World Polio Day it is a time for Rotarians and Rotaractors across the globe to raise awareness about our work to eradicate polio for good. If we stay committed to making progress, polio will be the second human disease ever to be eradicated. I am looking for one or a few of our Rotarians to plan a little event around this date to celebrate what Rotarians have done. E-mail mdironside@uwalumni.com if you have a plan!

Program Ideas Wanted?  If you have program ideas please pass them along to our programs committee. Phil Brown is the committee chair so please reach out to Phil with any ideas.  If Phil is out harvesting Cranberries pass it along to Shelly Mondeik - Shelly.Mondeik@mstc.edu

Do you have a great idea for our club? Don’t hesitate to reach out to club a board member or myself via phone 715-697-9167, e-mail (mdironside@uwalumni.com), or in person. As I stated at the start of this year we need to keep enhancing the value of Rotary this year and in the years to come. All great things that exist started with a little idea. Is it service related? Something to enhance the meetings? Is it cost savings? Say what... You have a great idea to raise funds for our local projects? Let me know what your ideas are!
