Join our District 6250 Hope Squad for the annual NAMI (National Association for Mental Illness) Walk – Saturday, October 7, 2023, in Madison WI. Our goal for the event is $6250 and 100 Rotarians/Interactors walking in support of Mental Health for ALL. Click HERE to join our team. Please also share with your Rotary Club members. We again are collecting eyeglasses and pill bottles for the Lions Club. You may bring them to the Noon meeting and place them in the box which will be located by the welcome table. It is great that we are able to work with another community organization. Thank you to John Steele for organizing this effort!
Myra Swiston of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin shared their program expansion into Wisconsin Rapids. Wood County previously had a Big Brothers, Big Sisters program but it was forced to end due to staffing requirements. This means the Wood County program merged with the Portage County program beginning in 2019. When COVID occurred, this delayed the integration but the programs are fully integrated and operational in both counties at this time. Over 210 littles were serviced in the past year and the hope is for 123 new little, big partnerships for the current year. As of right now, there are 8 littles looking for a big in Wisconsin Rapids.
