Last week we welcomed Claire Lane-Parrish as a new member of our club. Claire transferred from the Rice Lake Rotary Club where she was an active member in exchanges and recently served as President-Elect. Clair served for the past seven years as Public Services Director for the Rice Lake Public Library. She recently started her new role as Assistant Director at McMillan Library. Welcome, Claire!
This week we look forward to inducting Gretchen Powers and Michael Schmidt as members.
Last week we welcomed our first Youth Rotars for the 2023-24 school year. Please warmly welcome from Assumption Evan Harris and from Lincoln: Corinne Sazama, Marcelo Torres, and Dana Tritz.
1) With the addition of an Interact Club, we are looking for an individual to serve as our Youth Protection Officer. This is an important position as we begin working with our local high school students.
2). Also we need an at-large member to join our Club's Board of Directors. With a limited time commitment (~1 hour/month), here's your opportunity to serve by sharing with the Board your thoughts and ideas for a more successful and dynamic club.
Let Ron Rasmussen or Craig Broeren know if you would like to be considered for either of these positions.
Sign up to assist on Saturday, October 21st for the United Way Day of Caring!. You can sign up on our website by clicking here. We appreciate your participation and look forward to making this a great event together!
Time: 8:00am-9:00am Registration & Breakfast
9:00am-1:00pm Leaf Raking

We again are collecting eyeglasses and pill bottles for the Lions Club. You may bring them to the Noon meeting and place them in the box which will be located by the welcome table. It is great that we are able to work with another community organization. Thank you to John Steele for organizing this effort!
Bill Pritchard, Rotary Exchange Coordinator for District 6250, engaged us in the importance of Rotary Exchanges and the positive impact they have on our world. There are three types of Rotary Exchanges: 1) Inbound, 2) Outbound, and 3) Short-Term. Bill shared that the United States used to be in the top 3 of places students wanted to attend in an inbound exchange but last year we were seventh. In addition, Rotary inbound exchanges cost approximately $6500 versus other agencies charging around $20,000. Bill challenged our club to begin hosting and sending outbound youth in Rotary Exchanges as our last club exchange was in 2018. More information on exchanges is available at https://www.rotary.org/en/our-programs/youth-exchanges.
