Rotarians,

This week’s announcements…

Second Monday Social May 10 is to be Yoga at the YMCA… The YMCA will be offering Rotarians a Yoga class to “stretch” us with an activity outside of our typical noon hour.  Take a deep breath, center yourself, pause from your busy world, and get some exercise and fellowship.  No experience needed.  We will meet at the beautiful new YMCA for a 5:30 PM start time on May 10, 2021.  Please let us know you are coming and who you are bringing (click) here.  You must register so we know how many to plan for.  Friends and family, prospective Rotarians are absolutely welcome.  Those that registered you will receive further communication prior to the event.

We are winding down our Local Foundation annual fund drive and hope to meet our goal.  Did you donate yet to the Foundation Fund Drive?... We are closing our annual fund drive.  If you have not donated yet, please do so because we are SO close.   Send checks to Noon Rotary Club of Wisconsin Rapids Foundation, 2511 – 8th Street South #157, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494.  As of April 24, 2021 we have heard from 33 of 54 members, and have reached $9,925 with a goal of $10,000.  Our biggest goal is that we get 100% participation.  The Rotary International Annual Fund is our “Every Rotarian Every Year” giving of $100.  We have shifted our fund drive and are asking that club members do their giving or decline in a timely manner.  This giving sets the foundation budget for 2021-2022 Rotary Year.  Thank you to those that have already given!

World Immunization Week, April 24-30 was upon us this last week…  If you were at the meeting last Monday, we showed a video that celebrated the work Rotary has done on polio eradication through vaccinations.  Formally the awareness week is only a week long but our job is ongoing, especially in this pandemic.  Join with Rotary to raise awareness of our work to #EndPolio and show that #VaccinesWork.  In today’s interconnected world, an outbreak anywhere is a threat everywhere. Vaccination is one of the best tools we have to improve people’s health and well-being. Even as COVID-19 vaccination efforts take place, vaccinations for other preventable diseases, such as polio and measles, need to continue in order to protect vulnerable children.  According to the World Health Organization, immunizations save up to 3 million lives per year. Thanks to the work of Rotary and our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, more than 19 million people who would otherwise have been paralyzed by polio can walk today.
Continue reminding everyone that our progress in the fight to end polio is proof that vaccines work.

Welcome May Youth Rotars - Joining us from LHS in the 1st, 3rd and 4th weeks of April.  This month we have Evan Dewitt, McKenna Williamson, and Tyla Weidman.  As always make them feel welcome, help introduce them to what Rotary is and does.  We are community role models.

Please provide your ideas for programs for 2021 -   Shelly Mondeik and the programming committee is asking you to help direct your weekly programming topics.  They have done a fantastic job of keeping our lineup full of interesting programs but want help from you to submit a speaker or topic.  If you’re not able to make the connection, the committee can assist you in reaching out and solidifying the program speaker and details.  Many hands make light work.  Send your ideas to mdironside@uwalumni.com  or Shelly.Mondeik@mstc.edu
