Noon Rotary Club of Wisconsin Rapids

Organized June 17, 1919

Rotary District No. 6250 · Club No. 2723
December 7, 2020
Volume 102 · Issue 18
Welcome to the weekend Rotarians!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and that December is off to a great start!  I find in hard to believe that we are only two meetings from wrapping up 2020.  Remember to press through this busy holiday season reflecting on our good fortunes and let it reinvigorate your “service above self” mentality.

Here’s this week’s club updates…

No meeting December 21, or December 28.  There is a noon Meeting both December 7, and December 14 (AHS choir zooming in for a holiday concert).
Support our Scouts Troup 185…  Amy Kolo-Elmhorst e-mailed an update on our Scouts.  Great to hear about how they are doing!  As one can imagine this year is difficult on them not being able to do their usual scout related activities.  We  have an opportunity for action here and would have a great impact by putting pen to paper and writing a few letters.  Amy is asking for us to help keep their spirits up and let them know we are thinking about them during this year that we haven’t been able to meet up with them.  Please e-mail akolo.elmhorst@gmail.com or call her at 715-570-2702 to obtain names and addresses or to offer any ideas you may have for the club.  See Friday’s e-mail from Amy for more details.

Join the fundraiser “Dream Team”… Calling all fundraising dreamers!  One clear message from our recent survey was that we need to supplement our internal fund drive with an additional fundraising effort.  The foundation is looking for a task force to work on shaping this fundraising effort into whatever form it may take.  Any and all ideas are welcome, so if you have experience or interest in fundraising and event planning please join this task force!  E-mail mdironside@uwalumni.com or director@familyctr.org your ideas or interest in joining up on the “Dream Team.”  (Sue did not formally authorize my naming of this group J).

The Prayer Committee is looking for members… If you are interested in giving the blessing at our meetings please join the prayer committee.  JR Siewert is asking for any members interested to reach out to him with any questions or desires to join.  E-mail   jrsiewert@coldwellbanker.com  Phone 715-325-3660

Congratulations to Sue Sippel and the club on earning the Presidential Citation… Sue Sippel quietly led the club to an achievement we have not been recognized for in quite some time.  It is a measure and a marker that this club is “doing the right things.”  The Noon Rotary Club of Wisconsin Rapids earned the Presidential Citation last year 2019-2020.  This is a great achievement for our club and deserves a round of applause.  The unprecedented circumstances of 2020 made this an even greater accomplishment.  Thank you for your leadership Sue, and congratulations to the club on a very prestigious recognition.

It’s the first Monday for the December Youth Rotars… Joining us for December from LHS we have Kaleb Anderson, Emma Mischnick, and Halle Heath.   As always make them feel welcome, help introduce them to what Rotary is and does.  We are community role models for them.
