Rotarians,
This week’s announcements…
Meeting format update… If you are attending the in person format of the hybrid meeting you may now attend with masks optional for those Rotarians who are fully vaccinated. Masks will continue to be required for those that have not been vaccinated against Covid-19. We will continue to keep a greater than “Normal Rotary” social distance for a while longer.
Join the Scouts for a pizza social, and badge recognition event… The scout troop we support was unable to do a lot of their normal activities in this last year. We are providing them a pizza party at their meeting on June 9, 2021. They are always excited at the opportunity to see our club members and get to interact again with community members out of their close circle. We will be gathering at the Huntington House for a 7:00pm meeting. I have called for volunteers to join and make a strong representation from our club. We need 8 members to sign up to eat pizza with these scouts, and help recognize the merit badges they have earned during this last year. Sign up – Three ways to sign up. 1.) Look for your volunteer request e-mail sent on June 3, follow the link. 2.) Log into our club runner website and go to the event. 3.) e-mail/call/text Matt.
District calling for help for Covid-19 relief for India… Our district has had a close relationship with Rotarians from Napal India where Covid-19 rages on. RI president Holger Knaack has called on Rotarians to assist our fellow Rotarians in areas of the world where the pandemic continues to take and disrupt lives and livelihoods. District 6250 has created a fund to receive donations to go to aid our friends in India. Please take a moment to watch a video plea for help from one of our districts former inbound students.
Don’t forget the annual fund “EREY”… Every Rotarian Every Year is RI’s request to contribute to the annual fund every year. The goal is $100 per Rotarian. These donated funds go out for international projects, and then return home to our district after 3 years in the form of district grants. We are only eligible to apply for district grants if we average $100 per Rotarian. As of May 14, 2021 we have 15 of 53 noon Rotarians contributing to the Annual Fund. That is down from 40 members in 2019-2020. The good news is we have a month and a half yet to pick up our participation! The easiest way is to sign up for Rotary Direct. Donate | Rotary International
Golf on June 28 at 1:30pm at Bullseye Golf Club… There is no reason needed to take the afternoon off and golf with your Rotary friends. If you need a reason, I have two. It is my birthday for starters, as well as my last club meeting as your president. If you would like to join for a round of golf. Let me know so that we can book enough tee times. Hope to see you for an afternoon on the fairway, or in my case down the right side of the rough.
