Dan Hostens, Chief of Police for Wisconsin Rapids, shared his background growing up in West Central Illinois and later serving as a Deputy Chief in Galesburg, Illinois. Dan has a Bachelor's Degree from Western Illinois, working on his Masters of Public Safety at Virginia, and recently graduated from the FBI National Academy. Since being hired in May, he has been updating department policies, creating an annual report, conducting employee evaluations, promotions of 8 individuals, hiring 5 individuals, and streamlining the hiring process. Two upcoming goals include gaining the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation for WRPD and creating a Co-Responder Program working with ODC Opportunity for Hope and the Wood County Sheriff's Department.
