Our Interact/Cool2BeKind Club is hosting its annual Rise To Remember event this May. They will be hosting a Mental Health Resource Fair on Wednesday, May 8th at 2:20 p.m. Community organizations will have activity/information tables for students. Further, members selected “Dawning of a New Day” for the seventh annual Rise to Remember event on Tuesday, May 14, at 6:00 p.m. in the PAC.
If you find yourself in the parking lot in front of the LHS main office, you’ll find a new outdoor seating option—a “Breather Bench”—-courtesy of a Domtar Employee Grant, fundraising by Interact/Cool 2 Be Kind (sponsored by Wisconsin Rapids Noon Rotary), and a grant awarded to Interact through the DPI. We hope LHS students, staff, and local community members will enjoy the space. Members of Interact will host a more formal dedication of the space in early May as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Our Foundation Calendar Raffle begins in July. Tickets will be distributed at our May 6th meeting. Our goal is to raise $5000 which means 500 tickets sold. We ask all Rotarians to sell 9 tickets. To meet our goal it would be around 12 tickets per Rotarian. Thank you for your support of our Foundation!
Join us to help our littlest community members receive the supplies they need. We are supporting the United Way Diaper Drive being held between Mother's Day and Father's Day (May 13 to June 14). Please bring diapers of all sizes, diaper rash cream/paste, and unscented wipes to our May and June meetings.
Jospeh Luther presented on the Junior Achievement of Portage and Wood Counties. Junior Achievement is the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA started off in 1919 as an after-school program that taught teens about how to start a business with the help of local business advisors. In the Wisconsin Rapids Area:
PARTICIPATION Wisconsin Rapids: 37 classes in 8 parochial and public schools for 703 students. This includes all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade public school students, including Grant, Grove, Howe, Mead, THINK Academy, Washington, and Woodside Elementary schools.
