As an follow-up on her presentation last week, Melissa Henricks from Save Our Allies provided links to two DHS recommended websites people can go to to assist with sponsoring an individual or family:

Two local agencies in Wausau to contact would be ECDC  https://www.ecdcus.org/ and New Beginnings  https://newbeginningswi.org. These organizations are working to settle refugees within 50 miles of Wausau (which includes Wisconsin Rapids). 

 

In addition, Rotary International has been asked by the federal government to assist with settling the Afghan refugees currently housed at military bases. More information as to how we can help will be forthcoming. 

Our Foundation will be doing a fund-raising calendar raffle in May of this year, and we are looking for business sponsors for the cash prizes. The plan is for drawings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (13 drawings) and we are looking for businesses to sponsor those in the amounts of $50 up to $1000. Julie Strenn and Chuck Gibbons will be attending the upcoming District Grant Seminar which will enable our club to apply for matching grants for projects in our community and/or globally.
